Heroes’ Square is found at the end of Andrássy Avenue, next to the City Park and it is part of the World Heritage Site. On one side there is the Museum of Fine Arts and on the other there is the Palace of Art. Both are really special and definitely worth a look. In the centre of the square there is the Millennium Memorial with statues of the leaders of the 7 Magyars tribes that settle the Carpathian Basin and founded Hungary. In the middle of the square is a 118-foot stone column with a statue of the archangel Gabriel, bearing the ancient emblems of Hungary. Construction of the square started at the city’s millennium in 1896, but it wasn’t completed until 1929.
