Also called Margitsziget, it is an island in the middle of the Danube and is 2.5 kms long. The island is connected to the mainland at both ends to both Buda and Pest with the Margaret Bridge in the south and the Arpad Bridge in the north. The island is covered with parks, gardens, fountains and other pleasant features. This is a popular recreational area with both tourists and locals alike. The island is host to the Centennial Memorial, the Musical Fountain and the Water Tower. The latter two are also part of the World Heritage Sites.
