The Central Market Hall is Budapest’s largest indoor market. This impressive hall can be found in the city’s 9th district and, it was designed by Samu Pecz.

When it was restored in 1994, many renovations were made to both the interior and exterior of the great market. You may have seen it on TV before as many high status guests to Budapest have bought paprika here and it has also won the most prestigious international prize of the architectural world.

On first entering the market, you’ll be astonished by the sheer size of the place not to mention the huge variety of stalls. These stalls sell everything from souvenirs, gifts and wine to mouth-watering meats, vegetables, fruit and cheese.

If you need a quick break, there are loads of various snack bars that you can head to which use the markets produce in their goods. Take time to browse all the floors – you’ll be amazed at the things you might pick up in here!
